Step through the original city gates and make your way along Via Marina toward the Forum, Pompeii’s political and commercial heart, surrounded by grand temples, public buildings, and the impressive Basilica. Strolling down the bustling Via dell’Abbondanza, imagine daily life in this once-thriving Roman metropolis.
In the Theater District, envision ancient crowds enjoying comedies and concerts in the Large Theater. You’ll also visit a remarkably well-preserved bath complex, a glimpse into Roman wellness culture, and the intriguing Lupanare, the city’s ancient brothel, adorned with vivid frescoes and compact stone rooms.

It is essential to arrive on time at the meeting point, at least 10 minutes before the departure. Late arrivals will not be eligible for a refund.

This tour involves a moderate amount of walking; comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended, as the surface on Mount Vesuvius is uneven.

The hike to the Vesuvius crater is optional and can be done at your own pace. The trail is approximately 1 mile (1.5 km) long, leading from the parking area to the crater’s edge, and typically takes around 30 minutes to reach the summit.

Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes with good grip; volcanic terrain can be uneven.

Bring sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen — there is little shade at the Pompeii ruins and on Mount Vesuvius.

In winter, temperatures on Mount Vesuvius can be much colder than at sea level. Dress warmly, in layers, and bring a jacket to stay comfortable.

● The tour may be conducted in multiple languages. If the minimum number of French- or Spanish-speaking participants is not met, the tour will run in English, with French or Spanish commentary provided only during the guided visit of the Pompeii Archaeological Site.
● If the trail to Mount Vesuvius is closed, the tour will include a visit to the archaeological site of Herculaneum instead.
