Get ready for a full-day adventure that blends ancient history, natural beauty, and unforgettable views — all with the advantage of an early start from Sorrento, allowing you to beat the crowds and make the most of your day.
Your journey begins in Pompeii, the legendary Roman city frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. With priority access and a passionate local guide, you’ll explore this astonishing archaeological site during a 2.5-hour walking tour.
Step through the original city gates and make your way along Via Marina toward the Forum, Pompeii’s political and commercial heart, surrounded by grand temples, public buildings, and the impressive Basilica. Strolling down the bustling Via dell’Abbondanza, imagine daily life in this once-thriving Roman metropolis.
In the Theater District, envision ancient crowds enjoying comedies and concerts in the Large Theater. You’ll also visit a remarkably well-preserved bath complex, a glimpse into Roman wellness culture, and the intriguing Lupanare, the city’s ancient brothel, adorned with vivid frescoes and compact stone rooms.
Your guide will then lead you to a Thermopolium — Pompeii’s version of a street-food shop — and a Pistrinum (bakery), where you’ll see millstones, ovens, and counters once used to serve hot meals to locals on the go. Yes, the Romans were ahead of their time, even when it came to fast food!
One of the tour’s highlights is the elegant House of the Faun, a luxurious villa decorated with stunning mosaics, including the world-famous Alexander Mosaic. You’ll then return to the Macellum, the city’s vibrant food market, once filled with the sounds, smells, and scenes of everyday trade.
For a truly emotional moment, you’ll also witness the plaster casts of Pompeii’s victims — men, women, and children frozen in their final moments.
After a break for lunch, your adventure continues as you ascend Mount Vesuvius. Your bus will take you up to 1,000 meters (3,280 feet), where you’ll begin a scenic 1-mile hike to the edge of the crater. The trail winds through volcanic rock and wild landscapes, ending with breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples and the surrounding region.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply looking for an unforgettable experience, this tour truly offers it all.

This tour involves a moderate amount of walking; comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended, as the surface on Mount Vesuvius is uneven.
The hike to the Vesuvius crater is optional and can be done at your own pace. The trail is approximately 1 mile (1.5 km) long, leading from the parking area to the crater’s edge, and typically takes around 30 minutes to reach the summit.
Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes with good grip; volcanic terrain can be uneven.
Bring sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen — there is little shade at the Pompeii ruins and on Mount Vesuvius.
In winter, temperatures on Mount Vesuvius can be much colder than at sea level. Dress warmly, in layers, and bring a jacket to stay comfortable.
